5. GDPR-Specific Disclosures
Tenr Technologies LLC is the controller of your personal data for purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and the UK GDPR. You can contact us about privacy matters at support@tenr.co. EU and UK users may also contact our representative at the same address, and we will route your inquiry to personnel trained on GDPR compliance.
We rely on adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, and other legally recognized safeguards when transferring personal data from the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom to the United States. You may request a copy of the relevant safeguards by emailing us.
If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
Automated decision-making (Article 22): Certain features of our platform, including AI-generated photo evaluations, involve automated processing of your data. Photo scores and recommendations are generated automatically without human review. These outputs are informational suggestions and do not produce legal or similarly significant effects. If you would like human review of any automated feedback, contact us at support@tenr.co.
6. Identity Verification and Biometric Data
To access certain features — including matching and communication tools — you may be asked to complete a selfie liveness check. This section describes how we handle the biometric data collected during that process.
What we collect
- A real-time liveness selfie captured through your device camera during the verification flow.
- Facial geometry and biometric data derived from that selfie and from your existing profile photos, used solely to confirm you are who your photos represent.
- Your verification result (verified, not verified, or pending manual review) and associated metadata (timestamp, match scores).
How we use it
Your biometric data is used exclusively to verify that your profile photos accurately represent you. We do not use it for advertising, tracking, or any purpose unrelated to identity verification.
Third-party processing
Your liveness selfie is transmitted to AWS Rekognition, a facial analysis service provided by Amazon Web Services, for liveness detection and face comparison. AWS processes this data solely on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using it for any other purpose. We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise disclose your biometric data to any other third party.
Retention and deletion
Your verification selfie is stored in a private, encrypted storage bucket. We retain it for a maximum of twelve (12) months from the date of verification, after which it is permanently deleted. Verification metadata (result and scores, but not the image itself) may be retained for longer as part of your account record. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us at support@tenr.co.
Illinois residents (BIPA)
If you are an Illinois resident, your consent to biometric data collection is obtained in our Terms of Service before any biometric data is collected. You may revoke consent at any time by contacting us at support@tenr.co, though revocation may limit access to certain features. We do not profit from your biometric data.
7. AI-Powered Photo Analysis
Tenr uses artificial intelligence to analyze your profile photos and provide personalized feedback on how your photo set presents to potential matches. This section explains how that process works and what data is involved.
What we collect and store
- Your profile photos are transmitted to third-party AI services (described below) for analysis.
- Technical image quality attributes derived from automated analysis, such as sharpness, brightness, and face count.
- AI-generated evaluations including a holistic score, written summary, identified strengths, and improvement suggestions. These are stored as part of your account record.
- Metadata associated with each evaluation, including which photos were analyzed and when.
How we use it
AI photo evaluations are used to provide you with personalized suggestions for improving your profile. We may also use aggregated, de-identified evaluation data to improve our services. We do not use your photo evaluations for advertising and do not sell them to third parties.
Third-party processors
- Anthropic: Your profile photos are transmitted to Anthropic's Claude API, an AI service, for holistic visual analysis to generate photo feedback. Anthropic processes this data solely on our behalf under data processing agreements and is prohibited from using your photos for its own purposes.
- AWS Rekognition: Technical image quality signals (such as sharpness, brightness, and face count) may be derived from your profile photos using Amazon Web Services Rekognition.
Retention and deletion
AI-generated photo evaluations are retained as part of your account record. You may request deletion of your evaluations at any time by contacting us at support@tenr.co.
Nature of AI feedback
Photo feedback is generated automatically by AI models without human review. It is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice. AI models can make errors, and feedback may not reflect the views of all potential matches. You are not required to act on any suggestion.
8. SMS Communications
When you provide your phone number, you consent to receive SMS messages from Tenr regarding:
- One-time verification codes for account authentication
- Nomination invitations when referred by an existing member
- Match notifications when paired with another member
- Date reminders prior to scheduled video dates
- Important account notifications
You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your account activity and status.
Tenr does not sell, share, rent, or otherwise disclose personal information or SMS consent to third parties for their own marketing purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers of the Text Message services.
9. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or share your personal information, including for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share your information:
- With Your Consent: We may share your information when you direct us to do so.
- Service Providers: We may share information with third-party vendors, consultants, and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf. This includes AWS Rekognition (identity verification and image analysis) and Anthropic (AI-powered photo feedback). These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Protection of Rights: We may disclose information to protect and defend our rights, property, or safety, or those of our users or others.
10. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. We will securely delete or anonymize your information when it is no longer needed for these purposes.
11. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- Encryption of sensitive data
- Regular security assessments
- Access controls and authentication procedures
- Secure data storage and transmission
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 18, please contact us.
14. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data to the United States and process it there. Profile photos transmitted to Anthropic and AWS Rekognition for AI analysis are also processed in the United States.
